- Ok, The A500 (not the plus) is not capable of showing flicker free at 640x400, unless a flicker
- fixer is installed. The monitor will not stop flicker. However, you will get a vastly improved
- picture than using a TV.
- (To get 640x400, the picture is interlaced, so updates at 30 fps. This is a slow update, so
- you get flicker, Overscan is where you alter the size of the viewing areas, to fill the
- entire screen.)
-
- Without flicker you will only get 640x200 (I take it you are using NTSC).
-
- It may be possible to get a slightly higher resolution using PAL, but I am not sure if your
- computer will support this. If it does you will get 640x256 (640x512 interlaced).
-
- The resoltions available on a 500 are
-
- 320x200 (NTSC) or 320x256 (PAL) 2 - 32 colours, 64 Halfbrite, HAM (4096 colors).
- 320x400 (NTSC) or 320x512 (PAL), same colours, but flickers
-
- 640x200 (NTSC) or 640x256 (PAL), 2 - 16 colours
- 640x400 (NTSC) or 640x512 (PAL), 2 - 16 colours with flicker.
-
- Depending on the age of the computer you may or may not be able to change between
- NTSC and PAL. From what you said about the A500, I doubt if you can without changing the chips.
-
- I hope this helps.
